Melbourne Cup Carnival 2014 | Derby Day

Before I chat to you about Derby Day and my outfit, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has shown me so much love and overwhelming support for my Flemington Forecast series. The races have been totally out of my mind for a good 3 years or so (thanks to being a good uni student!) so I'm beyond thrilled (and slightly relieved) that I could pull together some looks that you all enjoyed!!

Derby Day this year was cold. I'm not going to lie, it was hella windy and despite wearing one of the more covered up looks on the day, I was shivering. And now that I've finished complaining about the weather in true Melbournian style, I can now tell you that the start to the Melbourne Cup Carnival this year was nothing short of amazing.  The atmosphere in the Birdcage is unlike anything else, and I felt so privileged to be apart of it thanks to the Myer and Johnnie Walker marquees.

Derby definitely holds a special place in my heart, we share being about that monochrome lyf. This year I've been lucky enough to wear one of my fave Aussie brands, Bassike - who I adore supporting. I'm in love with this gorgeous #whiteonwhite top and skirt combo from their upcoming 2015 Autumn/Winter collection (it just got shot for an editorial for Harpers Bazaar, so I'm ecstatic to have gotten my hands on it for Derby!).

My amazing black leather Viktoria Novak crown definitely got its fair share of compliments, I LOVE the understated, clean look that it gives. Keeping with the whole minimal and clean look, I immediately thought Derby Day when I saw these Siren heels. I'm not really a huge strappy shoes kind of person but I just love how these look against the all white ensemble.
