Flemington Forecast | Melbourne Cup

Spring Racing is one of my favourite times of the year - it's around the same time as my birthday and of course more importantly, Melbourne is always buzzing in the lead up (to the races, not my birthday). Spring racing also happens to coincide with exam time. So after my graduation last week (!!), I was super pumped to be able to start organising outfits and start prep'ing for Flemington

So since I'll be attending this year - finally - I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to showcase to you all my outfit ideas for what I think will be the luxe, chic and slightly out of the box looks for fashions on the field this year!

My first Flemington Forecast look is for the holy grail - Melbourne Cup! I always found MC to be the day to make a statement, take a risk and of course, have fun. First of all, Flemington is all about tradition, so I'm a huge advocator for conservative hemlines for Spring Racing. I'm loving this gorgeous linen skirt from Aje at the moment - the texture and structure is incredible, and as far as I'm concerned it's not black or white, but rather a soft cream linen with a tan leather waistband (so ticks for stepping out of the box!). The look as a whole is quite minimal but the different textured details - like the leather and linen - keeps it interesting and definitely race appropriate!

I decided to complete the look with this amazing Danica Erard cut out crown. I'm quite a fan of the matchy look so love how the tan leather crown ties in really nicely with the waistband of the Aje skirt (and injects a bit more colour to the overall outfit as well).
