Outfit Of The Day 21.04.14

My blog's been a bit crazy lately. And by crazy I mean this: where have all my #allblack outfits gone?? If you follow me on insta (@vydia) you'd know I've been rocking some very 'colourful' (blue denim is colourful in my opinion) looks. Which is why I'm thrilled to be back in black (and a little The Bag Department leopard)!

It's been freezing as per usual in Melbourne and I'm so excited to be shooting looks with some of my favourite jackets and coats. This beautiful peacoat is from Superdry - a brand I've been loving lately for outerwear. It's such a nice, basic, structured coat put simply. So versatile and can even be dressed down - I've even worn it to uni with a hoodie underneath and dark wash skinnies with Timberlands. Another label I've been loving lately is Alias Mae. Love the chunky heel on this thick strappy pair, claps for comfort! I've recently picked up a pair of blush leather/suede sneakers from Alias Mae, which you've probably seen on my instagram. In LOVE, is an understatement!

P.s. I'm thinking about cutting my hair! I've always loved how short hair (a bit below shoulder length) looks with coats and everything else good about Autumn/Winter. Am I the only one who thinks this?

Ask Vydia | Favourite A/W Buys Under $100

Your style is incredible! Where are your favourite places to shop that aren't too expensive?

Hey Vydia, Please please do a post on clothes you wear that are under $100. I'm on a uni budget so love to hear your recommendations. Thank you so much, Jessica

Style doesn't necessarily come from price, in my opinion (keeping in mind style is subjective of course). I always like to think of style as "how" and not "what". It's about how you style and coordinate a piece, not necessarily what the piece actually is or what the price was per say. I'm a huge fan of mixing high end with high street when it comes to piecing together outfits. I think it's a very laid back and chill approach to dressing, especially when you add accents of statement pieces (like a beautiful leather jacket or a nice bag) to your look.

Here are some of my staple pieces that I love that don't break the bank (and are great basics too)!

#uniattire | Moto Pants & My Fave Flat Boots

COAT: Imonni the label (contact for availability) | TOP: Toi et Moi (available here) | PANTS: Cotton On (available here) | SHOES: Alias Mae (available here) | CLUTCH: The Bag Department (available here) | RINGS: Alice Or Jewellery (available here)

I get a lot of questions asking what I wear to uni, so I thought I'd do a little series just showcasing a typical outfit I would wear (or even what I wore that day to university). So I'm black in my typical all black (nearly) look - Melbourne weather called for it!

If you've been following me on insta (@vydia) you would know how obsessed I am with these moto jeans from Cotton On. Yep that's right, Cotton On. They've been on fire recently with their latest pieces and I've managed to find a number of gems I've been gravitating towards, especially for chill days and uni. I typically don't wear heeled anything for uni, I just think it's more easier for me to run (because I'm running late of course) from parking to class to lunch to class to parking in flats. These Alias Mae patent boots have been my go-to uni footwear - LOVE the grungy, laid back look with the patent finish and chunky buckles.

It wouldn't be an outfit of mine without a winter coat - this one is by Imonni the label (however, from a previous collection). It just goes to show that a classic coat can be timeless and take you through many seasons.

Outfit Of The Day 01.04.14

I love this look for a few reasons. 1. It's not all black! 2. I'm absolutely loving mixing neutrals at the moment - the end result is soft and feminine (a bit different to what I'm usually used to!). 3. There's a bit of leopard thrown in there for good measure! As a blogger it's quite easy to fall into the "let's just wear all black today" especially when the Melbourne weather leaves NOTHING to the imagination. As you all know, I'm in love with camel coats. This coat is last season Viktoria and Woods, so unfortunately it's not available, however I will be doing a post up soon about my fave winter coats of the moment, so keep an eye out for that!
