Ms. Soho Skin Diary

My NY resolutions each year never fails to include "taking better care of my skin" - and this year is no different. And I know this is such a common resolution for most of us especially coming out of the hectic EOY/party season. Which is why I've taken it upon myself to test out some skincare products that I've heard so much about recently - Ms. Soho (a Melbourne brand!). I've been on a Ms. Soho kick for the past couple of weeks, testing out - and most importantly, relaxing - with my 5 day Beautitox and gold Collagen Cleanse masks.

I thought it'd be cute to set this blog post out diary style, filling you in on my thoughts about each mask (that I had written down that day) while I kept every other element of my everyday skincare routine the same. And for those of you who haven't had a read of my skincare posts in the past, a heads up on my face - it's hella dry but generally pretty clear besides a few post acne marks on the sides of my cheeks (just in case you needed a reminder to never pick at your skin - here's mine!). And if you're interested on what products I generally like, make sure you check out more of my skincare posts here

Let's begin!

DAY ONE: Aloe Vera - Calms and soothes skin, fades any redness and blemishes, and begins to activate and regenerate cells.

Ok so this is the first of the 5 beautitox detoxifying masks - loving the sound of this already. I found the Aloe mask (fyi all the masks come in a paper sheet like material soaked in the formula) to be the perfect introductory mask, perfect for dry and sensitive skins. The lazy in me is so happy that this isn't a "paste" mask - it's super easy to use and washing my face after is a breeze. My skin was left feeling super clean and fresh (after having the mask on for 20-30 minutes) - with no heavy feeling at all.

Outfit Of The Day 14.12.14

If you've been following me on insta lately, you would 100% know that I've been loving the whole skirt over the pants look. I can understand it can be a bit of a polarising look (like jeans underneath dresses - which I've also been low key loving, but only with maxi dresses though!) but I definitely think it's a look you should try out yourself before you knock it. I've been obsessed lately!

Vydia Rishie x Couturing

The party season is almost here! For all my party prep and must haves, make sure you check out Couturing's latest Blogger Party Feature, featuring yours truly here. I talk about my fave makeup looks for a night out, style inspiration and most importantly, my going out playlist (lots of Kendrick Lamar and Wiz Khalifa apparently!)

Event | Mazda2 Launch

If there's one thing I love just as much as clothes, shoes and interiors, it's secretly cars (and also Huxtaburger but we'll have to chat about that another day). I had so much fun at the launch of the new Mazda2 car this week in one of the coolest warehouse-turned-showroom spaces, in North Melbourne.

The VR Verdict X Storm

I'm all about easy dressing for Summer - pieces that look great with minimal effort and also keep you comfortable and feeling light in the heat. I recently picked up a few pieces at the Storm boutique, just off on Chapel St, which I've been sporting quite a bit recently, ever since the weather started heating up here in Melbourne...

Melbourne Cup Carnival 2014 | Stakes Day

The 2014 Melbourne Cup Carnival is done and dusted, and I'm definitely a little (or a lot!) devastated for it to be over! This year I've been all about my neutral white looks and longer hemlines.  And this Alice McCall look I wore on Stakes Day was definitely the perfect way to cap off a fun week on the fashion front.

Melbourne Cup Carnival 2014 | Melbourne Cup

I think it's safe to say - I'm still buzzing from yesterday's Emirates Melbourne Cup. The day certainly didn't disappoint and as crazy as it sounds, it's already made me super excited for next year.

Melbourne Cup Carnival 2014 | Derby Day

Before I chat to you about Derby Day and my outfit, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has shown me so much love and overwhelming support for my Flemington Forecast series. The races have been totally out of my mind for a good 3 years or so (thanks to being a good uni student!) so I'm beyond thrilled (and slightly relieved) that I could pull together some looks that you all enjoyed!!

Editorial | Spring Racing with Melbourne Central

I LOVED spending the day with Melbourne Central last week, celebrating all things Spring Racing ahead of next week's excitement. Melbourne Central is buzzing at the moment with style hubs and retailers, all in full swing races mode. Rodeo Show, Decjuba and Tony Bianco were all on my list to check out and style a Derby Day look from.

Flemington Forecast | Accessories Guide

I'm just gonna come out and say the cliche, accessories definitley have the ability to make or break your look. And as much as I don't like a cliche telling me what to do, I have to somewhat agree - the right clutch or jewellery piece can definitely speak volumes and transform your outfit.

Flemington Forecast | Derby

Derby Day is just around the corner (in 4 days to be exact!), and I happen to be only slightly excited. It's the first official day of Flemington and the day is dedicated to monochromatic attire - what's not to love!

Flemington Forecast | Melbourne Cup

Spring Racing is one of my favourite times of the year - it's around the same time as my birthday and of course more importantly, Melbourne is always buzzing in the lead up (to the races, not my birthday). Spring racing also happens to coincide with exam time. So after my graduation last week (!!), I was super pumped to be able to start organising outfits and start prep'ing for Flemington

Flemington Forecast | Headwear Inspiration

Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2014 RTW

Sourcing amazing headpieces to wear to the races is one of my favourite aspects when it comes to putting together looks. However, it can also be one of the more stressful things on the to-do list! This year, I've decided to gain some inspiration from one of the best - Dolce & Gabbana. The past few Spring RTW collections have been some of my all time favourites - I'm a huge fan of the ornate accents, gold embellishments and the stunning contrast between hard metal and delicate florals that the designers have created.

Summer Sandal Favourites

Sandal weather is finally here (at least for a couple days here in Melbourne)! And as much as I love my heels, I LOVE to rock flats whenever I get a chance. This spring I've been loving all things effortless, can be paired with anything and of course, if it comes in black or white, I'm there! The espadrille, t-bar and ankle strap styles are definitely the three staples everyone should have in their wardrobe. Not only are they all extremely easy to wear (my favourite look right now is white jeans, a blue denim shirt & espadrilles - so easy but still put together), but they can completely transform an outfit into a classic, chic look.

Editorial | The VR Verdict X Nine West

I'm so excited to team up with Nine West for their latest campaign - all about showcasing these amazing caged pumps, Bessy. I'm sure you all know by now that I'm a huge fan of Nine West, you can never go wrong with their classic pieces.

The Perfect Ripped Denim

Hello Parry Tash Ripped Skinny Jeans* $65.00 (available here) | Asilio The Walk of Punishment Coat $399.95 (available here) | Alias Mae Hamlet $89.95 (available here)

I know there's some irony in calling these the "perfectly ripped" jeans, but they honestly are! I've been rocking these Hello Parry distressed jeans so much recently, I'm surprised I (or YOU for that matter!) haven't gotten sick of them. I'm quite picky when it comes to my "rips", they have to be quite strategic and balanced, and of course not too ripped! - too many holes and I start to wonder whether they're even resembling pants at all. Let's just say these are some of my fave "conservatively ripped jeans" of the moment...

Outfit Of The Day 07.08.14

I recently discovered this little new label called Pinnacle Runway. Not only are some of their pieces gorgeous basics (like the top and midi skirt combo I'm wearing here), but the price points are amazing. I love love love midi skirts, I think they're so chic, not to mention they're perfect for the upcoming Spring weather. This one from Pinnacle Runway has a really subtle textured pattern which looks perfect with a plain black top to break up the all black effect.

Editorial | The VR Verdict x Cotton On

I'm so excited to let you all know that I'm the Melbourne face of Cotton On's latest campaign Hello World. If you follow me on insta you would know how much I love my Cotton On basics for everyday - so teaming up with them for their latest campaign was only right! Over the next couple of months I'll be showcasing the looks I've styled for them featuring some of their newest arrivals. Just so you can get a little idea - expect lots of black and white, big coats and knits!

Styling Silver...

I've gone back to my love of silver. Now don't get my wrong, I still live for my rose gold of course, but there's something about the effortlessness and simplicity of silver jewellery - it just goes with everything AND everyone (silver works on all skin tones).

Chop Chop!

I did it! I chopped my hair off! I've always had this thing about going shorter for winter, I personally think that the winter "look" of coats and scarves and layers looks much more chic with a shorter crop.

Monday, 7 July 2014

I've been on a bit of a cape kick lately. The look allows you to play up the colours and textures of your outfit, not to mention that the extra layer is a much needed bonus for this freezing Melbourne weather lately! The lovely grey number I'm wearing above is from a local Perth designer Asuar (available here). The structure is absolutely stunning and I love the look of it draped loosely around the shoulders.

Face Mapping with Dermalogica

I needed a skincare overhaul. I'll be the first to admit balancing uni, a blog, remnants of a social life (haha), EXAMS and catching up on episodes of Suits has allowed me to make a million and one excuses for neglecting my skin recently. However, now that uni and exams are done, I've officially got my priorities in order and first off the list (besides celebrating never having to open another textbook again!) is getting my skin and skincare routine in check.

Outfit Of The Day 13.06.14

Maybe it's the Gen Y in me, but I just cant bring myself to outfit repeat. I may just have to make an exception for this look though. I'm in LOVE with this Asilio knit (as is everyone else in the insta world as well). I hope everyone got themselves one because it's honestly one of the most versatile and comfortable knits I've come across this season (the other being the Maurie and Eve Mackin Jumper in black). My J Brand white jeans haven't come off recently as you've probably noticed. I really recommend investing in a great pair just because of the fact (if you're anything like me) you'll be putting them in the wash after every wear. They're absolutely high maintenance but I LOVE the look of white denim, especially in winter.

Hair Love | Nak Hair Care

My recent hair care routine has been all about big, voluminous, thick, and of course, healthy looking and feeling hair. And if you're one of those fine, colour treated, flat, dry hair girls like me, this post is definitely for you.

It's May...

I think I need a minute to process that it's already May. As in we're almost half way through 2014...yep insane!

Outfit Of The Day 21.04.14

My blog's been a bit crazy lately. And by crazy I mean this: where have all my #allblack outfits gone?? If you follow me on insta (@vydia) you'd know I've been rocking some very 'colourful' (blue denim is colourful in my opinion) looks. Which is why I'm thrilled to be back in black (and a little The Bag Department leopard)!

It's been freezing as per usual in Melbourne and I'm so excited to be shooting looks with some of my favourite jackets and coats. This beautiful peacoat is from Superdry - a brand I've been loving lately for outerwear. It's such a nice, basic, structured coat put simply. So versatile and can even be dressed down - I've even worn it to uni with a hoodie underneath and dark wash skinnies with Timberlands. Another label I've been loving lately is Alias Mae. Love the chunky heel on this thick strappy pair, claps for comfort! I've recently picked up a pair of blush leather/suede sneakers from Alias Mae, which you've probably seen on my instagram. In LOVE, is an understatement!

P.s. I'm thinking about cutting my hair! I've always loved how short hair (a bit below shoulder length) looks with coats and everything else good about Autumn/Winter. Am I the only one who thinks this?
