Outfit Of The Day 28.06.13

I'm all about the black on black on black, but as one of my friends who happens to live on a farm (kidding) and who I can rightfully assume has never picked up an issue of Harper's Bazaar in his life, once said "you can't just wear all black, you need to mix up the textures!". I actually high-fived him for that comment, he deserved it. And as much as I don't like to limit myself to "fashion guidelines" per say, he's totally right and this is something I always keep in the back of my mind when styling all black everything looks. And I think this outfit sets the perfect example.

I'm in LOVE with these baroque printed pants from Madison Square. The fit is great as they have a little stretch to them (which means they're super comfortable to wear) and the embossed print almost has a leather like feel to it. I wear these pants all the time - they're everyone's favourite colour but still a little unique and interesting. I've actually been a huge fan of Madison Square pants recently, they've absolutely nailed it with their recent prints.

So we now have our baroque texture in our pants, next, the Shilla knit which has a lovely basket weave texture. I wear this jumper all the time (not joking, I should honestly consider buying a new one to keep on rotation), it's one of the easiest pieces to wear with printed bottoms. Moving on, these amazing Senso shoes which I've been sporting so much in recent posts, are a black snake suede texture with the obvious metal cap detailing. I've spoken about these in more detail in my previous outfit posts, so go check them out if you need more info.

Finally the sunnies; these ones are by Proof who do an amazing job recycling old skateboards into sunglasses - very cool. Love the simple shape of these and the wooden contrast sides, they're also super light and comfortable to wear.

Despite the numerous mixture of textures, it all works thanks to the common colour palette which pulls everything together. Another reason why I love black so much...
