How I Style My Hair

I get asked almost daily how I style my hair. To me, it's one of the easiest and quickest parts of my routine so I'm always really surprised whenever I get asked. First of all, creating the effortless waves look is super easy if you've got the right haircut. My hairdresser knows that I always wear my hair in waves so he specifically cuts it to look naturally piecey and soft whenever I style it. I'm also lucky that my hair holds a curl really well, so I only use heat on my hair max twice a week.

Ask Vydia | Bags For Uni

Hi lovely, I was wondering if you could give some recommendations for Uni totes. I want something stylish yet sophisticated. That doesn't scream uni student. And something from all price ranges, but looking at more high end/luxe. Aristea

Hey Aristea, so glad you asked this question because I'm also on the hunt for a new bag to use for Uni. I definitely recommend a tote as it holds so much and is definitely practical but still looks structured and stylish. And as always, you cant go wrong with a black tote! It'll stand the test of time and complement any outfit.

At the moment I'm loving all things leather that's snake or croc embossed. The Vintage Princess Bleecker bag has been at the top of my wish list for a while now and I think this is the bag I'm going to go for. Absolutely in love with the timeless shape and of course the crocodile leather. However it's such a popular style so you better get in quick before they go out of stock (again!). The River Island shopper bag is a great alternative and at a very reasonable price point as well.

Just as amazing but a bit of a splurge is the Alexander Wang Prisma Tote. I'm in love with the textured leather and rose gold hardware on the corners. It's a bit more on the expensive side but you can obviously get a lot of wear out of it outside of uni as well.

Here are some of my picks I'd love to sport at Uni this semester...

Outfit Of The Day 18.07.13

I don't think you can get a better combo than grey and black (unless it's black and black obviously). As you all know, I've been sporting a local Melbourne label called Imonni quite a bit recently and I'm loving their take on the very on trend hooded leather vest. The material is a lovely soft faux quilted leather with silver zip detailing. I've found that the quilted detailing tends to get lost amongst a black on black on black outfit, so I opted to pair it with a grey jumper from Hush Market. Love the shoulder cutout detailing which adds something a little different to the regular crew neck.

Ask Vydia | Eye Cream Favourites

Hi Vydia I love your beauty posts on skincare and makeup. They are always so informative and I love hearing what you have to reccomend. Would you be able to tell me what your favourite eye creams are? I'm looking to buy a nice one and would love to know what you recommend! Thanks in advance!! Sara

Outfit Of The Day 02.07.13

I've been loving this red swing coat from Lola vs Harper. For one, it's not black (claps for a little change) and two, the shape and silhouette it creates is very classic and chic. I'm a huge fan of statement coats, especially when I see everyone in Melbourne refusing to part ways with the staple black. In saying this, I'll no doubt be getting my hands on the black version (no surprises)! Love the felt material which has a lovely warm and thick feeling to it, perfect for the colder days.

New Arrivals | Windsor Smith

The lovely ladies at Windsor Smith HQ had me over the other day to take a look at some of the new arrivals hitting stores very soon along with current season favourites. I'm a huge fan of Windsor Smith - their shoes are consistently on trend and definitely affordable. There were so many trends that caught my eye at the viewing – lots of gold, chunky platforms, ankle straps, and wooden heels.  I will no doubt be sporting some outfits paired with Windsor Smith shoes really soon, my pick from the current collection would hands down be the Gillie in black (I’m sure it’s your favourite as well!). I’m also loving the caged studded heels that’ll be hitting stores in the coming months!

Outfit Of The Day 28.06.13

I'm all about the black on black on black, but as one of my friends who happens to live on a farm (kidding) and who I can rightfully assume has never picked up an issue of Harper's Bazaar in his life, once said "you can't just wear all black, you need to mix up the textures!". I actually high-fived him for that comment, he deserved it. And as much as I don't like to limit myself to "fashion guidelines" per say, he's totally right and this is something I always keep in the back of my mind when styling all black everything looks. And I think this outfit sets the perfect example.

RiRi Loves MAC

I'm actually OBSESSED with Rihanna, to the point where I even go around telling anyone who will listen that I'm actually OBSESSED with Rihanna. The thing is, I'm not a huge fan of MAC collections; they bring out way too many for the year so the appeal is never really there (unless it's a cool collectors item). The RiRi Loves MAC collection is obviously the exception. And just so every retailer out there knows, I will buy anything Rihanna has collaborated with! Help me. So I was super excited to find out a couple of weeks ago that RiRi was teaming up with MAC again, especially after her first collection selling out in less than 26 seconds or something ridiculous like that. I did pick up all three of the lipsticks and the bronzer/blush duo (I'm not a huge shimmer person, so I skipped out on the lustre drops). I initially just wanted to get the coveted red, RiRi Woo, but who can honestly just stop at one?
