HOLY GRAIL | Alpha-H Liquid Gold Radiance

Alpha-H's Liquid Gold Radiance is exactly what the name suggests. Not literal gold, but it may as well be.

Before I begin, I just want to point out that Alpha-H products are primarily based on glycolic acid which is a form of chemical exfoliation - I personally love this method as it's not physically abrasive (it doesn't use beads or other particles to buff away at the skin) but keep in mind that it may not suit everyone's skin type and condition. Disclaimer aside, if you're after radiant and more glowing skin, I would highly recommend you treat your skin to this!

If you're unfamiliar with glycolic acid and other fruit based acids, it's a really deep exfoliation of the skin which turns over the skin's cell renewal (it basically takes off the top dead layer of skin). Like with all things, too much glycolic acid in your routine/over exfoliation intentionally or unintentionally, can be quite damaging so make sure you're careful not to bombard your skin and keep in mind of the other products you're using in your routine (which may also contain exfoliating properties).

"A powerful botanical based brightening lotion for the treatment of pigmentation associated with sun damage, ageing, pregnancy and hormonal changes. Glycolic Acid, Waltheria Indica and potent antioxidant Ferulic Acid combine to inhibit melanin production, reduce discolouration and restore youthful luminosity. Ideal for mature, sun damaged and hyperpigmented skin."

I was kinda freaked out about this product initially - after all you're supposed to use it after your night time cleanse and follow it up with no serum or moisturiser. Umm so I'm actually applying an acid onto my skin and skipping any sort of moisturiser after? You're kidding. But it's actually a miracle in a little bottle.

I've been using this every other night for a bit over a month - so around 2 or 3 times a week (I don't use any other exfoliating products on the days I use the LQ - you definitely don't want to go overboard with exfoliating) - and the improvement in my skin tone and texture is incredible and beyond anything I've noticed from another product in such a short amount of time. You can apply the clear liquid directly onto freshly cleansed skin with finger tips or like me, add a few drops to a cotton ball and sweep it all over your skin - like a toner.

That quick sweep of product is basically like a mini facial/overnight skin resurfacer. The overnight treatment eats away all the dead skin on the surface, and works deeper down to turn over new cells and push them to the surface so your skin looks more clear and bright the next morning. One of my favourite benefits of exfoliating in general is how efficient your moisturiser, serum/treatment or anything you use after becomes (because it's actually penetrating deeper into your skin and not being blocked by a layer of dead skin).

When applying the Liquid Gold, the skin initially feels a little taut, but it's like the thin layer of product is working its magic and sealing in the benefits. There is a slight tingle but nothing horrendous or worthy of calling even slightly "painful". The change to my skin is beyond noticeable the next morning. The skin texture is a lot more refined and softer (despite the lack of moisturising!), and my skin looks visibly brighter and most importantly, more healthy.

After using the Liquid Gold I've noticed my skin HARDLY breaks out and my previous post acne scars were noticeably fading. It's amazing when people start noticing that your skin has gotten a lot more even - which in turn means you can wear a lighter coverage tinted moisturiser/foundation so your skin can naturally glow through. Like with all deep exfoliating treatments, your skin tends to become more sensitive to the sun, so you absolutely NEED to be wearing an SPF 30+ everyday (there's no such thing as no sunscreen in winter either btw!).

And as cliche as it sounds, this is seriously a product I cant live without - definitely my holy grail skincare product! Alpha-H never get it wrong.

  1. A glycolic acid cream works well as a daytime moisturizer on oily skin
