Autumn Makeup Essentials

Oops looks like I haven't done a beauty post in a while! To make up for this, I thought I'd gather together some products I've been using recently and talk about some of my favourite makeup essentials, especially for Autumn.

Just like you change up your wardrobe as each season passes, it's only right that you do the same with your makeup looks!

Autumnal makeup seems to be centred around one major focus, the bold lip, usually in a burgundy or mulberry tone. Although the dark lip is a great look, I prefer to sport it generally only on a night out. This leaves a whole day time look that beauty companies in particular seem to dismiss. So I've done my best to put together a wearable autumn inspired essentials kit, that will still include the signature dark lip product, but will also incorporate other products that can be sported throughout all parts of the day.

So here's a little edit of some of the products I've been messing around with recently...

Eyes: Becca Eye Tint - Baroque
Becca is probably my favourite Australian makeup company. The brand epitomises the quintessential Aussie look, which is all about enhancing natural beauty. This means that most of their products, if not all, are sheer in texture, which some of you may not like but I actually love. One of my favourite products from Becca are their eye tints, and recently I've been loving wearing the eye tint in the colour Baroque as a sheer wash all over the eye. The colour is basically a taupey beige with a really beautiful natural sheen which makes the eyes literally glisten. Pair this with a false lash effect mascara, like Clinique high impact or Covergirl lash blast and the end product is a natural and chic, slightly shimmery eye look.

Face: NARS Bronzing Powder - Casino
My favourite step in any makeup routine is contouring. It's definitley one of those things I don't leave the house without doing. Right now, I've been switching it up between NARS Casino bronzer and MAC's sculpting powder in definitive (available at Pro stores only). Beware, these bronzers are heavily pigmented so only use the slightest of hands when applying them, you don't want to look like you've got two stripes down the sides of your face. I like applying my contour with a MAC 109 brush or anything which is tapered and not too large, so I've got a lot more control over colour placement. A light sweep along the cheekbones and the sides of my face and I'm done!

Lips: Clinique Chubby Stick - Whole Lotta Honey
I've been opting for tinted lip balms and sheer stains for the day time recently, and especially now since the weather is starting to get chillier. Love this colour by Clinique, which is a lovely natural beige with a little pink but not a full on nude. Perfect for creating that natural day look and the moisturising formula makes it a handbag must have.

Nails: Butter London - Yummy Mummy
The perfect nude polish! LOVE this colour for giving my nails that put together look. Very chic and simple, and a staple for Autumn/Winter especially if darks are not your thing!

Eyes: Lancome Artliner - Noir
The best liquid eyeliner in my opinion. It's seriously ridiculous how easy it is to create a winged/cat eye liner look with this, thanks to the felt tip applicator which tapers in so you can literally create any shape and thickness. The colour is an intense black which actually stays intense the whole day for me. If you are after a colour outside of black, I definitely recommend/love the wine/deep plum colour!

Face: MAC Blush - Desert Rose
This blush can look quite scary in person, but like with all dark/dusty colours, you only need the slightest of product to create a lovely look! This is definitley one of those blushes which look great on everyone and suit nearly every skin tone, just make sure as always, you don't apply too much.

Lips: NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil - Train Bleu
I've been obsessed with NARS' velvet matte lip pencils for a while now. And keeping with the customary dark lip autumnal trend, I've chosen my favourite wine colour called Train Bleu. Like with any dark lip product I wear, it needs to be a MATTE! The staying power is great and I don't find that I need to use a lip liner underneath. I love the consistency of these NARS pencils which are not too drying at all despite the matte texture. The best thing about these pencils are that you can wear the colours to the fullest extent, going all out or you can use it as a sheer stain by smudging it in with your fingers.

Nails: OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark
My favourite dark polish and I'm sure it's one of your favourites too! The PERFECT colour if you don't want to go all out black and the plum undertone looks great on all skin tones. Everyone knows about this one and it's no surprise I've included it here. Must have!
