January Favourites

How fun has January been? Hope you all had a fresh and motivated start to the year and to recap, here are some of my favourite things I've been enjoying especially in the month of January.

- Maurie and Eve Pants
I'm in love with this print!! I'm actually thinking about getting the matching peplum top so I can wear them both together, I'm crazy like that. If you're thinking about investing in printed pants, DO IT! They are so versatile because you can really pair it up with anything, a basic solid coloured top if you're like me or matching/clashing prints if you're a bit daring. I'll usually be seen wearing a Nicholas black or white full sleeve with these pants!

- Grace
The unsung hero of Vogue. Hashtag totes amaze. I've been pretty slack in the literature department, but when I did find time in January, I was reading Grace Coddington's memoir. It's a really great light read on her times at Vogue and basically all her amazing achievements from modelling to Vogue director. Very insightful and inspirational to say the least, and a MUST if you love fashion books or need something ultra cool on your coffee table.

- Bombardier Designs Candles
My absolute favourite candles! I go through candles like there's no tomorrow and right now I've been loving and cherishing my Bombardier Designs candles in French Vanilla and Roasted Coffee. Kayla, the lovely owner of Bombardier Designs is hard at work designing her new website for you all so make sure to keep an eye out on her instagram @kaylabombardier for when it launches. More information on these candles, including fragrances and details on how to order, can be found here. I've just gotten my hands on the beautifully fresh French Pear fragrance which I'm so excited to burn soon. Cant wait to relax!

- Steve Madden REALOVE
My staple heels for January! How much do you love these? I've been wearing my Steve Madden REALOVEs out everywhere. Love the pop of neon pink it gives to an outfit, especially when the outfit is the typical all black and solid. I really need to head back to SM and pick up the black pair soon!

- MAC Melba Blush
If you have tan skin, you need to try this blush. It's quite simply a bronzy pink, I'm not saying it's a coral because it has a bit more pink than a regular coral. So it's peachy? I'm not too sure but it looks amazing especially if you have a bronzed complexion because it almost enhances a tan if that makes sense. It's a matte which I love for day time, I'm defs not a fan of glitter on the face during the day, I much prefer the sheer matte textures for a natural look. Perfect for summer!

- Clinique Super City Block SPF 30+
My favourite sunscreen! It's slightly tinted so it hardly gives off a white cast to the skin. Works really well as a primer beneath your foundation if your skin is more on the dryer side, it may look shiny throughout the day if you're prone to oiliness though. If you are using it as a primer as well, make sure you wait a few minutes before applying anything on top just to allow the sunscreen to sink in a bit. An absolute must for the day time!

Let me know what you've been loving this month!

I've also hit 2000 followers on insty, so THANK YOU so so so much if you are following me!! And if you're not following me, it's @vydia ;)

Outfit Of The Day 21.01.13

Happy weekend everyone and also, Happy Australia/Straya Day for yesterday!

Hope you all remember a couple of weeks ago I did a post featuring my new label love for up and coming street label called Three Of Something, if not, go have a read here!

I did mention in that post that I LOVED the gryphon print and couldn't wait to wear the matching peplum top and pants, and if you're unaware of this amazing print, here's me embracing the print on print trend... what do you think?

Skincare Favourites...Removing Makeup

I'm going to do a little series on my skincare favourites featuring products I'm loving and have used for ages on my skin. Hopefully it'll give you a little insight into the stuff I trust to put on my skin.

I really recommend using quality skincare and embracing a proper routine, and if that means spending a bit more then I really don't mind. To be honest good skin is more important to me than having nice clothes (did I just say that?).

At the end of the day, it's not about buying the most expensive thing from the counters at DJs, just discovering what works well for you!

So let's talk quickly a bit about my skin so you can see whether you can relate to anything I can recommend and this post in general (hopefully you can in some way!). My skin's never been overly problematic, just mostly dry to sometimes stupid dry. I occasionally suffer from the odd breakout, which mainly occurs when I don't cleanse my face properly after a night out of wearing shit loads of foundation, powder, concealer, the works. I have a billion steps in my routine and usually switch up products all the time, which probably isn't the best!

Here's me with a bit of liquid eyeliner, mascara and concealer on. You can actually tell how dry my skin is (the little bumps on my forehead aren't actually spots, just dry patches which make my skin tone look super uneven). Overall it's not too horrendous (hopefully!).

Ksubi A/W 2013

So I've been excited for Ksubi's A/W 2013 collection ever since I saw Centenera wearing this during fashion week...

Christine Centenera wears Ksubi top and skirt. Tom Ford heels with Chanel cover. Celine envelope clutch.

Seriously, let's just take a moment. Ridic.

Ksubi's new collection shot in Paris with the ultra hot Montana Cox and styled by none other than style fairy godmother Christine Centenera, is quite easily my favourite look book for Autumn/Winter from an Australian label.

The collection is filled with dark, baroque patterns and prints. Extremely decadent and luxurious. I love the look of the leather pants and cap, and don't even get me started on the black bomber with gold baroque detailing!

Such an amazing location!

The full look book can be viewed on Vogue here

Ksubi A/W is set to drop in stores and online next month. What are your favourite pieces from the collection?

Outfit Of The Day 17.01.13

It seems like all I do is complain about the weather. But then again, I’m from Melbourne so I was basically born with this right. Basically. Last Thursday was stupidly hot, definitely 41+ degrees. I found this the perfect excuse to step into a lovely dress by Mok Theorem!

This is the Heliocentric Illusion Dress in periwinkle blue and you can also get your hands on a red version too. How amazing is it? Love the cutout detailing on this skater dress. Reminds me of a modern take on Alice in Wonderland!

So here's me pairing the Heliocentric Illusion Dress with my now favourite neon pink Realove heels from Steve Madden. I definitely need these heels in black soon!

LOVE the back of this dress!

This Past Week...Instagram

Ooops, the title should probably read these past 2 weeks on insty if you've been keeping up with me. My bad! Nonetheless, here I am talking about what's been happening recently and what's to come...

1. Super quick outfit of the day!
Just a real quick outfit I wore a while back. A super simple and casual black full sleeve shift dress by Scanlan & Theodore with my usual Steve Madden kicks. I’ve had this dress for years and completely forgot I even owned such a dress, love rediscovering versatile clothing!

2. Gucci Heaven
How amazing are these heels? They’re the heels from Gucci Spring/Summer 2013. Ankle strapped heels have been in for a while now but these thick strapped black patent heels are next level. Love the ankle detailing, which almost looks like a belt buckle. Absolute heaven!

3. Flats today
Get shit done = wear flats. I’ve had these Chanel flats since I was about 16, they’re one of my favourite birthday presents and I’m thrilled my feet still relatively fit into them. Not really, but I’ll still wear them.  So I paired them up with my Maurie and Eve jeans, which I’ve been frequenting a lot recently, I’m in love with the animal print! Super comfortable, loved this outfit!

4. New jeans from Sass and Bide
I’m always happy with some new jeans from Sass and Bide. Sass and Bide make some of my favourite denim (along with J brand, Citizens of Humanity and Current/Elliot).

5. Coloured pants for a change!
I’m actually wearing something bright for a change! These pink trousers are by Mok Theorem, a label I’ve been loving at the moment. Can’t wait for their Autumn/Winter collection to drop soon! You can see the full post on this outfit here.

6. Think I need this skirt next
I love Winston Wolfe. After checking out their A/W13 look book, I’m convinced I need it all. I’ll defs do a post very soon on WW. This skirt is definitely on top of the list ever since I saw Elle Ferguson from They All Hate Us wear it during her Vogue feature. Love the shape, cut and the fact that it’s black leather. I’m sold.

7. Favourite outfit potential
Abana told me this was her favourite outfit of mine. And I think it’s mine too. Probably because it was so simple or maybe because I was wearing chucks? Full outfit post can be found here!

8. My Mok Theorem dress for a 45 degree day
And once again, it was scorching in Melbourne. Probably not as much as Sydney but still stupid hot. I’ll do a full detailed write up on this outfit hopefully tomorrow, so keep your eyes out for that!

9. and 10. Yellow bikes and stoned shit!
Abana and I decided to head to lunch at Wolf and I on Chapel in Windsor. Straight away we loved the décor of this place!! Coloured bikes on walls? We’re there. We should’ve known from the mint in the water that this place was going to be more eccentric than Jean Paul Gaultier during fashion week. So we ordered the quesadillas and potatoes thinking these would most likely be the safe option. Lo and behold our potatoes were actually covered in what could only be cement. Abana and I like to think that we’re both Masterchefs (we're working on our My Kitchen Rules application as I speak), but this was just too Masterchefy and (not really, but still) My Kitchen Rulesy even for us. The quesadillas tasted amaze but I'm sure next time we’ll just order the fries. Funniest day ever. Hope you kept up with all the sarcasm.

Outfit Of The Day 15.01.13

This is probably one of my favourite outfits. It's black and white after all.

A quick hang out on Chapel definitely called for some classic hi top Chuck Taylors in white. I don't usually wear these out on a regular basis, but I'm really enjoying balancing something quite out of the ordinary with something so classic and iconic. Chucks simplify everything. And after wearing this outfit out I feel like buying a new pair! I love the all black monochrome pair (of course) but I'm thinking navy or maybe even the grey would be nice.

On to the pants! I recently bought these black Sass and Bide jeans with white embroidery detailing on the front. Like all Sass and Bide jeans, they're a great fit and finish a few inches above the ankle (which I love!). The back is just plain and look like regular black jeans.

The weather has been really nice in Melb recently so a simple AW black tank (I actually wear this everywhere!) thrown on and I was good to go. I'm thinking I'll do a blog post on the best of the basics real soon.

Overall, love how simple this outfit turned out, might have to repeat it for when uni starts in a couple of months.

Hope no one from Monash is reading this...

Camilla and Marc A/W 2013

Camilla and Marc have just released images of their new Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, titled The Fundamentals.

First of all, the amount of whites in this collection is amazing and completely welcome for an A/W collection (I counted around 8 all black pieces, just to let you know). The collection features amazingly shaped dresses and structured jackets. I'm absolutely loving intricate shapes these days (especially for skirts!).

Amongst all the whites are some nice doses of colour including soft pinks and a unique cameo print!

Here are a few of my favourite pieces from the collection...

Love this skirt!
