Outfit Of The Day 11.11.13

This outfit is all about bringing together the staples. Denim. Leather. Black. Leopard. I've found myself literally living in my Toi Et Moi Montrer skinnies which have that waxed denim look, perfect for everyday as they are so so versatile. I've also been getting plenty of questions about these leopard espadrilles, they are actually from Nine West and are a great affordable alternative if you've had your eyes on the Senso Mollys. However they're not on their website so I would recommend hitting up your nearest store to check them out! I got mine from the Nine West at Chaddy.

Spencer Outlet Centre

Spencer Street Outlet has recently undergone a makeover and if you ever needed a reason to pop in for a spot of shopping (and a bargain), now would be the time. I recently attended the launch of the new precinct which now includes stores like Trade Secrets, Harris Scarfe and Cotton On Mega. The launch was hosted by the gorgeous Rachel Finch and had DJ Didier Cohen working the decks.

Styling | The VR Verdict x Chadstone

I'm back for round 2 with Chadstone, The Fashion Capital. I've styled 2 new outfits (pictured on the 2 far right mannequins) that will be on display in Chaddy for the next couple of weeks, and just like last time, you'll have the chance to win your fave look! The 2 outfits, styled from pieces from Alannah Hill and Jigsaw, are both perfect for summer and can easily transition from a day to night look. The first look (pictured second from the far right), features pieces from Alannah Hill. I'm not usually a huge Alannah Hill person (the frills and bows don't exactly suit me) so I was completely surprised I could put together this outfit and still have it reflect my style. I'm loving lace in all colours this season, and paired with a printed pencil skirt, looks demure but still on trend. My second look is definitely a lot more laid back and casual, and features pieces available from Jigsaw. I'm a huge fan of a plain white shirt, especially tucked into some tailored shorts. These navy shorts are actually a polkadot print, perfect if you still like looking a little monochrome even in summer.

Skin Elements by Rakis on Collins

I've been dying for a spa day ever since the end of uni and exams! If you're ever in the CBD or just looking for a great new luxe beauty salon, I've found a hidden gem in Skin Elements by Rakis (the award winning hair salon) on Collins St, just opposite the Regent Theatre. My beauty therapist Yumi, was an absolute pleasure to be around and really went above and beyond to make my visit at SE a memorable one! I was booked in for the much needed Luxury Pedi and Mani (for my usual white shellac of course) and highly recommend it not only for yourself but also as a gift for friends or family members in need of some R&R. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Ask Vydia | Jewellery Favourites + Silkstonewood Q&A

Hi Vydia I love your style and was wondering if you could do a blog post on some of your favourite jewellery and what type of pieces you like to wear. What are your favourite brands for jewellery? Love Kara xxxxx

You all probably figured it out by now but I'm OBSESSED with rose gold everything. I think it particularly looks good on bronzed skin as it has a tendency to somewhat enhance a tan! I'm not a very picky person when it comes to jewellery labels, I find that you can uncover some real treasures from all ends of the spectrum - even from Lovisa to Net-a-Porter.

Here are some of my current favourite pieces from my collection...

Styling | The VR Verdict x Chadstone

I was very excited to be asked by The Fashion Capital - Chadstone, to style a couple of looks to celebrate the much anticipated beginning of summer fashion. The two outfits I styled (pictured on the far right) were inspired by Melbourne's fashion and lifestyle and our perspective on the upcoming party season and of course taking into consideration our indecisive weather! The first look (pictured second from the far right), features all pieces from Karen Millen. This was my event/going out look, so I decided to stay true to my personal style and go with the all black (obviously) but keep it a bit light with the collared sheer lace shirt paired with a versatile wax coated jean. Throw on a structured blazer, or better yet, tie it around your waist, and you're good to go. The second look (pictured far right) was my casual day look styled with pieces from French Connection. I'm currently loving the midi skirt as a key piece for Summer. Denim and stripes have been a staple pairing in my wardrobe all throughout winter so I defs felt it necessary to continue the trend in to Summer!

Outfit Of The Day 29.10.13

TOMBOY. Loving this tee from Melbourne label Imonni. The super light weight material makes it seriously comfortable and perfect for the upcoming warmer months. I was feeling a little tomboyish that day, so I decided to bring out the Supras but don't worry I made sure they were leopard print so I wasn't entirely mistaken for a guy...

Outfit Of The Day 01.10.13

A versatile cape will transform your trans-seasonal wardrobe! I've been loving this number from Toi Et Moi Sydney, a label I've been sporting quite a lot these days (the Montrer skinnies have been on repeat for days). I decided to stick with the black on black (of course), and paired my gorgeous cape with my Current/Elliot cropped denim and Wittner perforated peep-toe heels. The cape is definitely a highlight statement piece, so keeping the rest minimal was key...

Hugo Boss Collins St Re-Launch

Hugo Boss' iconic Melbourne Flagship store on Collins St has recently undergone a makeover and I was lucky enough to be invited along to an intimate celebration of the reopening. The focus of the night was also on the much-anticpated launch of the spring racing season and to celebrate, Hugo Boss have once again teamed up with amazing milliner Louise Macdonald to produce a millinery range exclusive to Hugo Boss stores. I'm loving the selection of dresses - classic, conservative, and beautiful shapes and textures - perfect for spring racing!

Outfit Of The Day 23.09.13

I've been obsessed with these leopard print Supras ever since I laid eyes on them on the Urban Outfitters website. But like all things (and knowing my luck!), they were out of stock! So of course I managed to pull out some detective skills I didn't even know I had and managed to get my hands on a pair from Aus Supra HQ. And as superficial as it sounds, I couldn't have been more excited after my long search! I don't joke about sneakers.

Toni & Guy Georges Pamper Session

One of my go-to hairdressers, Toni & Guy Georges (on Little Collins St), was host to an amazing pamper session and evening dedicated to all trends heading into Spring/Summer and especially, the races! Salon owner, Jo Smith (who I recently got my last cut from, love her!) took us through key hair style and colour trends which provided some great and much needed inspiration for this year's racing carnivals. I loved Jo's take on the faux bob (pictured far right) and also a bohemian-inspired/messy fishtail braided bun (pictured second to the left). The girls from Napoleon then talked us through some of the upcoming makeup looks we'll be seeing. Luxe skin, couture contours, feline eyeiner, big lashes and modern bold lips were all the main focus.

QV Glasshouse Launch

QV Melbourne's recent launch of the garden Glasshouse was host to one of the most amazing floral displays I have ever seen. Spring was certainly in full bloom thanks to gorgeous arrangements from QV's Flower Temple. The opening of the Glasshouse served as the perfect setting to showcase Jason Grech's new bridal collection, Stellaire

Outfit Of The Day 16.09.13

Back in what else but all black again! I'm in love with my new Zoe Wittner Design exclusive (i.e. limited edition!) shoes from Wittner. The thick snake embossed ankle straps are so versatile and look amazing with almost every outfit. Plus, they're 100% leather!

Melbourne Central Beauty Experience

To celebrate the start of SFW, I was lucky enough to be treated to an amazing beauty experience as part of the One Day Shopping Festival held at Melbourne Central.

First stop was at Toni & Guy’s renowned Melbourne Central salon. My hair was in the very capable hands of the lovely Jordan who indulged me in the most amazing blow dry and styled my hair into soft loose curls. Jordan used all Label M products, which is T&G’s exclusive salon-only brand, including the Honey & Oat Shampoo and Conditioner (smells as divine as it sounds!), Blow out Spray, Curl Cream and Shine Spray. The result were lovely soft polished curls with plenty of volume - ultra glam and a great change from my regular messy textured look!

Kosmea 20th Anniversary Rose Hip Oil

If you've been reading my blog for a while now, you would know my LOVE for Australian natural beauty brand Kosmea. As a blogger, I'm constantly rotating the products in my skin care routine to try and test out new things for you all. In saying this, I always find myself gravitating back towards my must have Kosmea Apple of My Eye Cream and Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil. Kosmea have recently turned 20, and to celebrate the amazing milestone, they have released a Limited Edition gold packaged CO Rose Hip Oil. I was lucky enough to have a little chat with Kosmea Founder Marie Jenkins to talk all about the company's growing success, beauty secrets, new products and of course, all things rose hip oil...

The Going, Going, Gone Top by Mossman

The first day of Spring lived up to its expectations here in Melbourne (I'm sure I'm not the only one keeping my fingers crossed that the heat sticks around for a little longer). And what better way to celebrate the start of the best season of the year (in my opinion!) than with a little colour.

Storm Melbourne Store Opening

New Zealand label Storm have just recently opened their first Australian boutique right here in Melbourne, situated where else but ballin' Chapel St, right near the Toorak Rd end. I was lucky enough to attend the store launch last night and have a little chat with Storm designer, Deborah Caldwell. Storm's style philosophy is all about bridging the gap between chain store and designer with on trend pieces with classic longevity. New designs (which are all limited edition - only 15-20 of each style is produced for each store) drop in store weekly making for constantly on trend and sought after pieces. And of course I was a huge fan of all the black and leather, so if you're on Chapel, I highly recommend paying Storm a visit @ 575 Chapel St South Yarra...

Cameo "White Shadows" Collection

I've been eagerly anticipating the drop of the new Cameo collection, White Shadows, ever since I was the sent the look book a few months ago! I've documented my LOVE for Cameo the label quite a bit in the past - I'm constantly amazed at how high the bar is set as each collection is released. Here are some of my favourite looks from the White Shadows collection. I'm particularly in love with the first rose gold metallic dress and of course anything in the gorgeous smoke print!

My Favourite Candles

Having candles in my home is as important to me as keeping a well stocked fridge. It's a need. So decorating my place so that it not only smells heavenly and has the right ambience, but also feels cozy and chic is ideal when creating a lovely and welcoming living space. I have candles scattered all through out my home, usually in little groups of varying brands and scents that work well when lit together (I love mixing scents and creating my own personal home fragrance). There's nothing more peaceful than unwinding in a calm and candlelit glowing atmosphere created just for yourself. Candles are also my go to when gift giving, it's such a favourite amongst everyone and a perfect treat if you know some people who wouldn't normally justify spending a little more for those luxury favourites.

They can really do no wrong in my book, so here's a little list of my current favourite candles to give you some inspiration when you're gift shopping or looking for a little something new for yourself...

Ted Baker Spring/Summer 2013

The launch of Ted Baker's Spring/Summer 2013 collection was carried out in none other than absolute style and class.  The collection referred to as "The Finishing School" taught guests a few fashionable lessons while being held at the beautiful Medley Hall (aka Melb Uni's residential boarding school). The playful and quirky collection which boasted pops of beautiful magentas and floral prints (perfect for Spring Racing coming up soon!) played a lovely contrast to Ted Baker's typical conservative/preppy approach to styling. But like always, I was more drawn to the neutrals - my favourite piece being the sheer white shirt with crystal embellished collar detailing.

David Jones Spring/Summer 2013

I was lucky enough to be invited to the Melbourne screening of the David Jones Spring/Summer 2013 fashion launch at Bourke St Mall last week. Headed by the new front woman for DJ's fashion, Jessica Gomes, the launch was a great celebration of the new and upcoming Summer collections presented by some of Australia's most talented designers including the likes of Josh Goot, Dion Lee, Camilla and Marc, and Ellery. Key trends including nautical, black and white, and of course my favourite, sports luxe were high on the priorities list.

Outfit Of The Day 22.07.13

It's so weird seeing me not in black pants. But in saying that, this is probably one of my favourite looks in a while. I'm not a huge denim person but I'm loving these jeans from UK label Oasis.  The ombre colouring takes away from the usual conventional and sometimes boring look of typical denim. I decided to stick to neutrals, as always, to keep the focus all about the pants. Love this monochrome striped crew tank from Shilla, such a great staple piece that I cant wait to sport without a jacket once the weather heats up. Speaking of a jacket, I've totally fallen in LOVE with this blazer from Warehouse. Once again, it's a wardrobe essential thanks to the amazing skinny fit and simple design. Love that the pocket zip detailing adds a little something different as well.

How I Style My Hair

I get asked almost daily how I style my hair. To me, it's one of the easiest and quickest parts of my routine so I'm always really surprised whenever I get asked. First of all, creating the effortless waves look is super easy if you've got the right haircut. My hairdresser knows that I always wear my hair in waves so he specifically cuts it to look naturally piecey and soft whenever I style it. I'm also lucky that my hair holds a curl really well, so I only use heat on my hair max twice a week.

Ask Vydia | Bags For Uni

Hi lovely, I was wondering if you could give some recommendations for Uni totes. I want something stylish yet sophisticated. That doesn't scream uni student. And something from all price ranges, but looking at more high end/luxe. Aristea

Hey Aristea, so glad you asked this question because I'm also on the hunt for a new bag to use for Uni. I definitely recommend a tote as it holds so much and is definitely practical but still looks structured and stylish. And as always, you cant go wrong with a black tote! It'll stand the test of time and complement any outfit.

At the moment I'm loving all things leather that's snake or croc embossed. The Vintage Princess Bleecker bag has been at the top of my wish list for a while now and I think this is the bag I'm going to go for. Absolutely in love with the timeless shape and of course the crocodile leather. However it's such a popular style so you better get in quick before they go out of stock (again!). The River Island shopper bag is a great alternative and at a very reasonable price point as well.

Just as amazing but a bit of a splurge is the Alexander Wang Prisma Tote. I'm in love with the textured leather and rose gold hardware on the corners. It's a bit more on the expensive side but you can obviously get a lot of wear out of it outside of uni as well.

Here are some of my picks I'd love to sport at Uni this semester...
